One of the best preserved buildings in Ephesus is the theatre. In
the first century A.D., this is one of the places where St. Paul
preached to the Ephesians. It has room to seat about 25,000
people and is still used for concerts.
This is a view towards the theatre's
stage. The road in the background
used to lead to the seaport. However,
after centuries of silt depositing in the
harbor, the seacoast is now about three
miles away.
