After I arrived at Charles de Gaulle Airport,
I took the train to Gare du Nord. There, I
got on the Metro (the subway system in
Paris) and rode to a stop near my hotel. I
stayed at the Hotel Leveque, which is not far
from the Eiffel Tower.
The Eiffel Tower was built by
Gustave Eiffel for the World
Exhibition of 1889. It's about 1,000
feet tall and has three observation
platforms at 200, 400, and 900 feet. If
you are in good shape, you can climb
the stairs. Being a bear of small size, I
took the elevator to the second
observation platform.
On the next page, you'll see some
of the views from the observation
platform 400 feet above Paris.
