Islam is the primary religion of
Turkey and numerous mosques are located throughout Istanbul. Perhaps the most well known is the Mosque of the Sultan Ahmet, more commonly known as the Blue Mosque. It was designed in the 17th century. |
|
This building is called the Blue Mosque because the inside is
decorated with over 20,000 blue ceramic tiles. Its main dome is about 70 feet in diameter and 140 feet high. |
