Denali National Park - Dog Sled Demonstration
At Denali National Park, I went to the sled dog demonstration.
During the winter, park rangers patrol the park on dog sleds.
However, since I visited in the summer, there were wheels on
the sled to give an idea of how the dogs pull. Each of the
dogs in the dog sled team has a specific role - they don't just
pull at random. In the past, sleds were made of wood, but
now the modern sleds are lightweight and made of aluminum.
In the winter, dog sleds may cover 20 miles or more per day
on their patrols.
Here I am with the dog
sled team after the
demonstration. While I
was there I got to tour the
kennels and meet the dogs.
