One of the first things that I did
after arriving in Anchorage was
go and hike on Flattop Mountain.
This is a very popular hiking trail.
Although it was the middle of
June, there was still snow
alongside the trails.
Anchorage is located on the Cook Inlet. Above is a view
looking south across the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet.
Not too far from Anchorage, you can get a good view of a few glaciers.
On the left, peaking through the clouds is Byron Glacier and on the right is
Explorer Glacier. Because Alaska is so far north, there are many hours of
sunlight in the summer. These pictures were taken at about 10 p.m.
